I (WILL BE) IN THE WARSAW NEWSPAPERS!

Since my last post I have an exciting updated! Darla, the person in charge of the City Hall Gallery, also writes an "Art in Action" column for the newspapers of Kosciusko County. Well, she told me that the column would be postponed until this week, which made me a little disappointed.

WARSAW CITY HALL SHOW: "MEXICO"

I graduated college two weeks ago. This is fact rather than pride because it means that I have to get busy on "real life." During my senior show a couple months back, the mother of one of my friends approached me about coming to the show. The only thing she told me at that point was that she wrote for the Warsaw Times-Union and wondered if she could do an interview with me. Of course I said yes!

MEXICAN IMMIGRANTS: RUTH

There is too much to say about Ruth*. She is one of the two most faithful ladies who have come to our ESL classes. Even before I started teaching in the fall of 2012 the class was already meeting in her home. She has always been extremely generous with her house, her time, and her energy.

AN INTRO TO "MEXICAN IMMIGRANTS IN THE US"

Everyone knows that immigration is a hot topic in the United States right now. Personally I have not yet made up my mind where I stand on the issue but there are several things I do know. Since the fall of 2012 every Wednesday I have been going to a trailer park in Warsaw, IN to teach English.

THANKSGIVING EXPERIMENT: LIGHT PAINTING PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

Over Thanksgiving I told myself I needed to shoot something, I did not care what. I was looking through petapixel.com (great website for inspiration though I spend altogether too much time there) when I came across an interesting tutorial. Basically the idea was to create beautiful product photography, which often require extensive lighting set up, with just the screen of a tablet or phone.

CERAMICS NEVER ENDS!

Just a quick Monday night post for a little update on my ceramics project. I thought I would be done with ceramics once I finished making them but I knew I wanted to photograph and document them too.

NEW SKILL: WATERCOLOR

As an artist I believe it is important to constantly being learning something new, experimenting, or deepening my understanding of something I already know. This session I am taking a watercolor class. Believe me, drawing and painting are not my strengths but I thought watercolor would be fun. And it is!
